Wu-Wednesday: Stone Mecca - Iron Fist Tribute Song + Challenge & Goodies

With so much going on with RZA's debut movie "The Man With The Iron Fist" which drops November 2nd, make sure to support The man, the talent, the movie, the movement.

For fun,  RZA's official band and Wu-Tang fam and live group; Stone Mecca have recorded an Iron Fist tribute song/instrumental which is not featured on the official soundtrack but are making it available to fans to download for free and enjoy. Stone Mecca has decided to take it a step further, and have invited fans to add vocals to the instrumental (rap, sing, or reggae chant to it) and send/post it on Wu-TangCorp forum or post it below on the comments section of this post on this blog. The songs will be forwarded to the band leader ; Tru James who will also be checking the forum links and decide the winner. For those who are not members of the forum, either join, or post it on the comments section of this post or send it here promo@wu-international.com.

 The site will give the winner two free CDs, Stone Mecca's album "First Contact" and the official soundtrack to "The Man With The Iron Fist "album by The RZA.  In addition to the CDS, the song will be featured as the song of the week on the Wu-International for at least 2-4 weeks.

RZA Live On Stage With Band On 8/16 (Bay Area)

The Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, and his highly influential production sound, are much too easily taken for granted. You’ve got his Minnie-Ripperton-on-helium tape speeding methods, to which Kanye will forever be indebted; the filthy, resinous 36 Chambers aesthetic that’s informed everyone from MF Doom to Portishead; his prophetic, narrative skits that have irreversibly shaped the dynamics of the hip-hop album.

Even after 20 years in the biz, the Staten Island icon and famed kung-fu fetishist continues to shepherd the hip-hop form in bold, new directions. Expect RZA to reinforce his prestige when he takes the Mezzanine stage this Thursday, with a full live band in tow.

Adding to the mystique, is the relative lack of publicity surrounding the lineup of RZA’s band, and its plans to approach his almost entirely electronic production sound. How will a live drummer approximate the precarious, lo-fi thud of his synthetic beats? How will the melodies and samples be replicated, and on what instrumentation? And, perhaps most intriguingly of all, what effect will live, human interplay have on the loop-based foundations of his recorded output? The addition of a live band to RZA’s domain raises an abundance of tantalizingly unanswerable questions. For those fascinated by musicians pushing themselves into exploratory situations, this live appearance ought to be nothing short of essential.

Colin Munroe Hits The Studio With RZA To Record "Invincible"

Colin Munroe records with RZA for his upcoming project "#Unsung Hero."

After a hiatus from the spotlight, Colin Munroe has released footage of him in the studio with RZA recording the song “Invincible.”

The darkly shaded song features rolling drums and snaking synthesizers. In the clip from the session, Munroe and the Wu-Tang Clan member discuss placements of instruments on the track, which plays in the background.

Munroe is currently gearing up to release his new mixtape #UnsungHero. He most recently dropped his new single “The Fight of My Life” featuring Pusha T. It is unclear if the cut will appear on the project.
