I just want to say Big Baby Jesus was one of the most influential MC's in my life. His drunken style made me feel like it's ok that I'm poor right now cause I'm not going to be all of my life. And that there's nothing to be ashamed of cause my family was receiving Gov. Aid. He help give me confidence, and I am grateful for that. Peace to the god

  39. thank you for one of the most brilliant minds to ever grace music. He was known as a hip hop artist but he transcended musical genres... clever mind for rap lyrics bujt with punk rock ideals. There has been no one like him before or since, and you can see just by this how very loved he is. Words can barely describe his impact on anyone who listened to him. Music is my life, so to have a chance to thank you and tell you what he means to me is huge. Thank you, and thank him, because he brings you love and respect from millions of his fans all over the world. RIP

  40. Peace, Mama Jones! You're a beautiful woman. Your son was/is like none other. Even as white suburban kids from the south, we related to ODB when Wu-Tang hit Arkansas in '93. Now my 5 year old daughter immediately recognizes their songs and loves them...although I have to censor it with the volume control sometimes, ha. ODB is sorely missed and loved. Thank you for bringing such a flash of energy and light into our often dark world.

  41. Mamma Jones, ur son had the most unique and raw style in hip hop to date and I doubt there will ever be another... I have all his albums.

Russel "Dirt McGirt" Jones was pure inspiration to me and all my friends who listened to his music here in South Africa on the Mother Continent.

I find myself spitting his lyrics at the wierdest of times and it makes me feel good cos I admred him so much for his out there personality and attitude.

He had the wierdest, freshest, dirtiest and mind etching rhymes.

We salute you and thank you so much for giving the world the ODB, the master, the legend, thank you a thousand times and more!

RIP ODB, you will be missed but NEVER forgotten!

Craigdog (dark continent disciple of the ODB)

He did it like no one else before him (and probably after him) he is my insperation in my life and art form and i miss him....but he's in a better place now among all the hip hop, hard rock, and great singers that passed....

  56. Dear Mama Jones,

I was only thirteen years old when I bought my copy of your son’s first solo album in the spring of 1995, and I can say that it never affected me in a negative way. I had been to twenty-seven different schools by the time I reached high school, and I did not make many friends when I moved from location to location. I was a different type of person that saw the world in a different way. I was an outcast everywhere I went, but by some way your son’s music taught me not to strive to fit in. I never wasted my time trying to please people, and I made a point to just be honest with myself and others. This is the way I live my life, and I credit it greatly to your son’s music. Something about him gives off a prevailing essence that speaks to just being happy with yourself, no matter what your flaws. He taught me to look for the good in everybody, and everything. Your son continues to be respected by younger generations for his talent and philosophy. I’m greatly enjoying turning on younger generations to his music. My wife, only 22 now, had never heard his music before she met me, but now she likes nothing more than to listen to ODB speak from the soul about enjoying life, as the unique person each person is, when she is down, and it is the same way for me. I’ve seen your son’s music cross racial boundaries, and I’ve seen many people, that you would never expect to enjoy his music, listen to and fully enjoy every word he has to say with his great style. Your son lives on through his music by touching people, and he will be remembered as time continues to pass. Your son will forever be one of the greatest hiphop artist of all time, but his essence prevails beyond the hiphop world. Thank you, Mama Jones, for blessing us with your boy, and please enjoy your life to the fullest as that is exactly what he would have wanted for you.

  64. Mama Jones, Russell/ODB/Dirt Dog was truly a gift and a God send to the world. From his outlandish rhymes on tracks, to his words of wisdom and sense of unity he showed not only w/ the Wu, but with anyone willing to listen to his words. He not only made us laugh, but made us think. He is remember not only by his hits, but his contribution to Hip Hop and even pop culture relevance. Every time I hear one of his songs, I have this urge to listen to a whole cd from him. Or, every year, around VMA times, I watch, just to see how he bum-rushed the stage and proclaimed "Wu-Tang was for the children". He is definitely a person that will be cherished & thought of by millions of people for many, many years to come. #salute to anyone giving shout outs to ODB, Mama Jones, The Wu or anything that helps keep the memory or TRUE hip hop alive. This is comin straight out the West Coast. We bump that shyt, just as hard!
    *Final ODB Thought/Best ODB Memory*

  65. Unique was one of the greatest artist of the modern age. More abstract than Picasso, Osirus exhumed the beauty of true art from his powerful voice which gave us all power to his emotion provoking moves which are sometimes oddly similar to ancient Gamelan dancers portraying deities. Through his entire persona, RUSSELL showed the children truth through honesty in expression. intelligence is living in truth you can never destroy genius you may smash it down only for it to turn around and become an eternal foundation for the youth to look to and study the persecution of those who care to love more than just the people they know. saying that, Osirus was a revolutionary that personally changed my life and gave me courage to face the challenges that stand in all of our ways. Thank You for Your existence Ason the most Unique, in that you showed us there is a hope for the full hearted.

  78. I would just like to say thank you for "Dirty: One Word Can Change The World." It was a beautiful movie that moved me to tears and it was kind of like a reunion for me because I grew up through my mid-life crisis listening to all The Wu-Tang and Wu-Tang affiliate cds without the internet or being able to see any of the videos so I was like damn that's 60-Second Assassin, that's Brooklyn Zoo, that's Old Dirty's peeps I heard about from the music. I loved it. Thank you again.

    one,

  82. I saw the Dirty documentary and I was shocked to see what family really meant for Wu and R,G, & O.
The Wu's pull on me over the years made more sense when I learn that Dirt was direct descendant of the Natives in that region, thus he never really formed a sense of enslavement to modern consumerism PR/ colonial imperialist rule. He knew that if he knew himself, no one could tell him anything. I can see how, even tho he wasn't the architect, his natural game profoundly sparked this huge international movement in music, culture, cinema, entrepreneurialism, philosophy, self determinism in art etc. Eventually all of the talented, sincere people with the gusto who grew up and relied on their music will cary his stride into all the future generations. Each on teach one.
