RZA Discusses Wu-Tang Fans : The saga continues
The legendary Wu-Tang Clan's production has slowed down a lot since their 90s heyday, but crew members like Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Method Man and RZA have kept the group's legacy alive through acclaimed solo releases, guest appearances, acting gigs, etc. RZA took time out to examine how having some of the most die-hard and committed fans in music has helped keep the Wu relevant almost 20 years since they debuted.
"I think fans resonate with the artists that they are fans of, and most of us in the crew are very electronically savvy," RZA said. "That applies to video games and applications for iPhones or iPads. Our fans are like us, and we enjoy a lot of the same things. That's why I think certain items resonate with them, because they enter our world and vice versa.
He goes on to explain how the solo projects from each member add on to the legacy of Wu as well as plans for a Wu-tang album.
“It’s all part of the Wu-Tang. And when we do come together, rare as that is, it’s that much stronger because of it.
RZA says he “won’t even talk” about the group’s next album, although a follow-up to 2007’s “8 Diagrams” is reportedly planned for 2012. “Me and Ghostface talk about it a lot,” he says. “The other members are talking about it. We’ll see what life brings — let’s put it that way.
“To have an official Wu-Tang Clan album with everybody coming together, it’s never an easy task. It’s like an independent film or something, a lot of pieces that have to be put together. But I’m always up for that challenge, so I think it’ll happen again — someday.”

GZA Takes A Tour Of MIT
After recently giving a lecture at Harvard, GZA makes a visit to yet another prestigious university in MIT and here’s some footage of the Wu-Tang emcee’s tour. Word is that The Genius was visiting MIT to get some inspiration for his new album due out on Babygrande next year (which will not be the sequel to his classic Liquid Swords). Add that LP to the top of my most anticipated projects of 2012.

Fresh From The Mogue Experience With The RZA & Bronze Nazareth
Fresh From The Morgue: ft. The RZA
Bronzeman and The Rza....I sent Rza “Farewell”, to get a story type joint going but he said ‘send a few more’, so I sent this “Fresh from the morgue” beat. I had the hook and my verses on it already. Had to wait awhile, but that's my dude and he got it to me on some Bobby Steels shit! I was in NY, and checked my e-mail a day after recording Masta Killa, and there was the Rza vocals.
He even started his verse with the Bobby Steels shit! Upon further listen I noticed he added the “Bob is ill ill ill Bronze is ill”. I was bouncing around the room when I heard it. That's a good look for the legend to call you ill on your album. So that was big. One of my favorites on the album.

RZA shares his experience with Kanye West
Wu-Tang Clan leader RZA recently opened up about his relationship with Kanye West and how the Grammy-winning rapper/producer's determination and focus have elevated his career.
Having worked with Ye on Watch the Throne and last year's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy albums, RZA said the hip-hop star places high emphasis on keeping his crew close.
"I'ma tell you something this young man does," RZA said referencing Ye. "[He and his crew] get up every morning to eat breakfast together, his whole crew. They talk about yesterday and the next day and the present. They plan, all over breakfast. They sit there and they talk about what they gonna do, what they did and how to make the music better. Then, they go exercise together. They go to the YMCA. They play basketball, lift weights. Focus, get the energy out. ... The way everything happened was like focused energy, yo. Actually, I've never seen that from a rapper before. I come from Wu-Tang Clan. Y'all know us. Five of us show up for the concert, the other three late, some ain't doin' it, some are sleeping. It's not only his talent that took him to the top. I've gotta say, it's his focus, y'all." (Red Bull Academy)In 2010, Ye's "Power" producer Symbolyc One talked to SOHH about his daily routine around the G.O.O.D. Music leader during My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy's recording process.
"I ate breakfast with him every morning, played basketball with him everyday and would be in the studio with him all night. It was more than just the music. We really got to connect on all those types of levels. It was incredible. Kanye can actually hoop. He actually has game. He can handle the rock, he can shoot, he can really hoop. It kinda caught me by surprise, he gets down." (SOHH Guest Star)Last year, RZA hit up SOHH to discuss contributing to Ye's platinum-selling solo album.
"What made me come out to Hawaii when he invited me wasn't really about making music. I wanted to go and build with a brother and share [my knowledge]. I thought I might be able to share some things that he's not really heard from around other people he's been around. The secrets we keep from each other and try to stay secluded from each other because we're like crabs in a barrel, everybody's trying to get out and so we keep pushing each other down some times." (SOHH Guest Star)The Wu's Raekwon also spoke to SOHH in 2010 about recording "Gorgeous" alongside Yeezy.
"The first thing I can tell you about Kanye West is that he's a hard worker. When you look at him, you can tell that he still has that whole hip-hop thing in his bones. When I was around him, I could definitely feel the energy that this guy is really taking things serious and he's not trying to give [you] no watered down album. Listening to what was being made, you could hear and know that you were feeling it. So for the most part, I can say the music is great as far as him being creative and brilliant and he makes sure to keep those things around him. Everybody that says he's bringing this album back to the 1990's, [but] I think it's more about him being creative." (SOHH Guest Star)Check out RZA's interview below:

RZA to Produce Method Man's Final Album
It looks Method Man will be linking back with fellow Wu-Tang Clan member RZA to start working on his new album.
Before you get too excited, there is a bad side to all of this as well. Although Method Man and RZA will be teaming up to put in some studio work for his Meth’s next album, we should tell you that Method Man states this will be his last album.
The announcement was made via the official Wu-Tang Clan Facebook page and reads, ” Methodman in officially working on his last album produced by the RZA”
After just turning 40 years old this past April, Method Man has put in a lot of work since first stepping onto the music scene, and has recently begun to expand upon his acting career while promoting his upcoming role in the film ‘The Mortician.’
Previously entitled ‘Crystal Meth,’ this album will be the first time RZA has exclusively produced an album for Method Man since his 1994 debut project ‘Tical.’
No official word or release date on this project yet, but This Beat Goes will keep you updated as the details begin to unfold.

Win Tickets To See Wu Tang Clan’s Friday Night Show At The Troc!!!!
In his book, The Wu-Tang Manual, MC/producer RZA quotes a Ch’an Buddhist proverb: “When you see a swordsman, draw your sword. Do not recite poetry to one who is not a poet.” However, this advice may not apply to the Wu-Tang Clan, because ever since its 1993 classic, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), they’ve transformed their verses into fatal flying guillotines. Armed with raw slang, kung-fu films, Supreme Mathematics, Taoism and hip-hop swagger, the Clan created a new-age Shaolin in which cloaked monks met behind temples, exchanging secret handshakes and forgotten wisdom. Though they’ve chopped many heads as solo artists—GZA’s Liquid Swords, Method Man’s Tical, Ghostface Killah’s Supreme Clientele, Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, and so on—their lyrical daggers are deadliest when they collectively converge like Voltron. They’re doing it tonight, as founding members RZA, GZA, Meth, Ghostface, U-God, Inspectah Deck and Masta Killa rock the Troc. (Elliott Sharp)
You want tickets? The show is $45, so this offer, much like Wu Tang, AIN’T NUTTIN’ TO FUCK WIT! Shoot an email to tips@makemajormoves.com with LIKE COCAINE STRAIGHT FROM BOLIVIA in the subject line, and they could be yours. We’ll pick a lucky winner tomorrow morning.

Wu-Tang Clan & Odd Future To Headline Paid Dues Hip Hop Festival April 7th, 2012
The PAID DUES INDEPENDENT HIP HOP FESTIVAL–presented by MURS (Living Legends) in association with Guerilla Union (Rock The Bells, Cypress Hill SmokeOut)–returns to Southern California for its seventh installment on Saturday, April 7, 2011 to the NOS Events Center as an all-day, all-ages event with multiple stages highlighting the most eminent and flourishing independent artists in hip hop. Set to headline this year’s festival is Staten Island’s legendary hip hop crew Wu-Tang Clan and Los Angeles’ 2011 breakthrough collective Odd Future. Additional artists performing over three stages will be announced shortly.
“I am honored this year to have two of the most impactful hip hop collectives in history headline this year’s Paid Dues,” notes festival founder and independent hip hop pioneer MURS. “Wu Tang entered the game in the early 90′s and changed everything. And Odd Future has already made an enormous impression in their own right and just a few years in. To have these two dynamic forces on the same stage on the same night is almost unimaginable but only right that it take place at Paid Dues. This and so much more to be announced in the upcoming weeks has me really looking forward to our 7th year of Paid Dues.”
Chang Weisberg, Guerilla Union head, adds: “This year’s Paid Dues will be historic. Getting Wu-Tang Clan and Odd Future on the same stage for the first time is an epic billing. Add to that, having some of the greatest crews in Hip Hop on one stage is crazy. This will be our biggest, most ambitious Paid Dues ever.
The Guerilla Union ticket pre-sale will begin on Wednesday, December 14 at 10:00am PST via Ticketfly.com. Tickets will be available to the general public starting Saturday, December 17 at 10am PST. “

XXL Names The World's Top 10 Rap Books Which Includes The Wu-Tang Manual.
These days, when rappers pull out a pen and a pad, or even get on the computer or their smart phones, it’s not certain they do with the intent of writing a rhyme. More and more MCs are using their creative talents to turn a gift for words into literary works, instead of recorded tracks. Over the years, rhyme slingers from Prodigy to C-Murder to 50 Cent to Jay-Z and The RZA have released their own tomes, ranging from memoirs to novels to guides behind their rhymes. Traditionally, only journalists, scholars and outsiders took aim at putting hip-hop in book form, but as the culture has expanded, more artists have cranked out material for the page, becoming players in the literary world. Most recently, Common, T.I. and Odd Future have released projects, with Nas’s coming down the pike. XXL recaps the 10 best rapper-penned books of all time. Bookmark this.
THE WU-TANG MANUAL
Authors: The RZA and Chris Norris
Release Date: January 4, 2005
First Line of Chapter 1: “And The Rza, he the sharpest motherfucker in the whole clan, he on point.”
Wu-Tang Clan’s Abbot, The RZA, offered rap scholars a comprehensive introduction to his group’s world with his first book, The Wu-Tang Manual (Penguin Group). The curriculum is broken up into four “Books,” each having nine sections, or “Chambers.” Book One familiarizes the reader with all of the Wu members, Book Two explains in detail the Clan’s varying influences (martial arts,
Five Percenter ideology, mafia culture, comic books, chess, etc.), Book Three breaks down several of the group’s biggest songs, and Book Four ventures into the signature musicality of the WTC.
The guide was devoured by fans, with many followers bringing it to shows for Bobby Digital to sign in person. “The book was able to catch people from different walks,” The RZA says. “Some people respected the Christian part of the book; some people were able to relate to getting knowledge of self.”
Manual was such a success that The RZA penned a follow-up, The Tao of Wu (2009), that focused more on his own spirituality. And he’s currently working on a third book, outlining the 36 principles that help steer his life.—by Adam Fleischer, Jesse Gissen, Mark Lelinwalla and Jayson Rodriguez

Grab Your Chessboards if you love Hip-hop!!
Hip Hop Meets Chess to Combat Violence
Once again, the Bay Area-based Hip-Hop Chess Federation is back with another one of its terrific events, blending cool music, scholarship, and the game of kings. Started by HHCF founder Adisa Banjoko, with help from rappers like RZA of Wu-Tang Clan, Raaka of Dilated Peoples, Casual from Hieroglyphics, and others, the event aims to bring kids together with their heroes to play chess.
It's that simple, but the results can be amazing. By playing chess, kids learn about alternatives to violence, and like the game itself, they learn the importance of patience, and thinking about the consequences of a move.
As Banjoko says, "The Bay has had a lot of violence and tension and we put this event together in hope of balancing the nagativity, with a wave of positivity."
If you're interested in playing or helping, the event is saturday the 10th at John O'Connell High School in San Francisco. It runs from 10am to 2pm.
Come for the DJ .. stay for the chess.

RZA's Quote of the week
GZA / The Genius: Liquid Swords Tour 2012 Europe
The public reception that "Only Built for cubane Linx" wass the best solo album by a member of the big "W" s apply. "Liquid Swords" by GZA is still today - more than 15 years after the publication - quality at least equal. Thanks to the typical RZA productions and numerous lyrical references to the Wu-usual mix of martial arts and crime, as well as chess and philosophy is "Liquid Swords" as one of the textual content of the albums most clan discography.
Next winter, the chess expert, GZA for a few days as part of its recently announced "Liquid Swords 2012" tour in Germany and a guest will be a total of five concerts. Rumor has it he might even do new songs from the loose sequel to his classic announced long-player in the travel pocket.
