Is the Wu-Tang Clan Broken, Forever?

A conversation between Justin Charity (@brothernumpsa) and khal (@khal)

Like a fake Rolex or the Soviet Union, the Wu-Tang Clan has fallen irreparably apart. While the group's nine key members have spent the past year promoting A Better Tomorrow and Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, two last-call reunion albums, Raekwon, Ghostface, and Method Man have all publicly bucked RZA's creative direction and financial control of the Wu, having spent the past decade-and-a-half tending to prolific and profitable solo careers of their own.

False Alarm: Wu-Tang Producer Claims Skrillex Bought Their $5 Million Album

There's a lot of money being tossed around with Wu-Tang Clan's music right now. Last week, RZA stated that he's set to lose $500,000 on Wu-Tang's latest album A Better Tomorrow. Today, Highsnobiety uncovered that Wu-Tang's infamous Once Upon A Time In Shaolin album—you know, the one (meaning that there's only going to be one hard copy) that the Wu has been planning on selling for millions of dollars—has been allegedly sold to *drum roll please* Skrillex

Cilvaringz stated via email, that Skrillex hasn't bought anything. It was just a bit of forum banter:
"Bro that was a joke, the album is not sold to Skrillex. It's only in his new video for the song "Fuck That." I would assume the sale of the album would be a grand official announcement, not a simple "yup" joking around with forum members we've been talking to for years."

While Skrillex hasn't bought A Better Tomorrow, the box in his music video for "Fuck That" is indeed an actual copy of the album. Good on Skrillex for not testing the age-old "you break it, you buy it" sales policy.

Breaking news : Raekwon and Rza truce : Raekwon scheduled to hit studio

After a pretty tense month, Wu-Tang Clan's website confirms that RZA and Raekwon have called a truce, and are back to working on the upcoming Wu album, A Better Tomorrow. Last month, Raekwon told Rolling Stone that he was on strike from the group, while RZA explained that the differences came down to a lack of communication. RZA then told Sports Illustrated that he gave Rae 30 days to either get involved with the project, or it may never get released.
The album is currently scheduled to drop in July. [via COMPLEX]

Wu-Tang Clan Announce Title Of 20th Anniversary Album "A Better Tomorrow"

Wu Tang Clan are set to release their brand new album, 'A Better Tomorrow', in July.

They will support the release of the record with shows at Manchester O2 Apollo on July 25 and London's O2 Academy Brixton on July 26.

Last month Method Man said that the band were working on a new release to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their classic debut LP 'Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)' - and then, in an interview with Radio.com, Cappadonna confirmed that "recording has begun" on a new LP.

"I already spoke to the RZA," he said. "We've been texting each other. We're definitely concentrating on more positivity and teachings and trying to put that back into the original recipe for this next Wu-Tang album."

He went on to add: "The recording has begun... It's all being done in the secret Wu-Tang Bat chamber. RZA has all the tracks lined up. There are recordings taking place in New York, LA and perhaps at the Wu mansion in New Jersey."

Wu-Tang Clan released 'Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)' in 1993. Their last studio album, '8 Diagrams', was released in 2007 following a six-year gap after their 2001 LP 'Iron Flag'.

The hip-hop group are set to play this weekend’s Coachella Festival in California as well as this summer's Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona.
