RZA Responds to Raekwon's Recent Comments on Wu-Tang Clan

RZA is gearing up for his new film, Brick Mansions, to drop, and thus is in promo mode. This morning he dropped by Hot 97 this morning to chop it up with the crew to promote the film. They of course brought up Raekwon's recent comments about being "on strike" from Wu-Tang Clan, and RZA responded by saying it is just a rift between brothers. He also went on to say that the majority of the differences are caused by not being able to be around each other as much, and that the issues boil down to a lack of communication.

RZA Speaks About Wu-Tang Clan Affiliate Who Cut Off His Own Penis

This week saw a bizarre story about Andre "Christ Bearer" Johnson, a Wu-Tang Clan affiliate who cut off his own penis and tried to commit suicide by leaping from the second story balcony of his North Hollywood apartment. Initially, Wu-Tang posted a statement to their website's blog disavowing the affiliation, but then removed it. Now, RZA has given an interview to XXL in which he clarifies the group's connection to Johnson. Read more over on Pitchfork.com

Raekwon Speaks Out Against Wu-Tang Clan and Says He Is "On Strike"

Raekwon recently talked to Rolling Stone and voiced many frustrations with RZA over the creative direction of the group and album. During the interview he went on to say that he hates the new Wu record, "Keep Watch," and that he is basically 'on strike' from the group because he and RZA can't see eye to eye. GZA – The Best Acts at Coachella Weren’t Even on the Bill

One of the best cameos we saw on Saturday wasn’t on a big stage eating an intro from one of the headliners. Watching GZA from three feet away at the Hieneken House at 8:30 p.m.–that was where you needed to be on Saturday. Most press folks got the notification he was headlining the new indoor lounge area 15 minutes before he took the stage. Hardly anybody had a clue he’d be following LA beat scene royalty Gas Lamp Killer and Thundercat, who gave some rad performances on their own. But there he was, The Genius–killing it Shoalin style for a 30-minute set that drawing heavily from Liquid Swords. And of course, he had to go ahead and drop a few verses of “Shimmy Shimmy Ya,” an obligatory ode to Ol’ Dirty Bastard that felt just right–considering we all felt like dirty bastards any way at that point of the night.
