Method Man Reminisces On How Hard Livin’ Led To His Hard Spittin’ (Audio)

This week, Method Man has been incredibly busy. The Staten Island, New York star MC appeared on Juelz Santana’s comeback single “Ol’ Thing Back.” With Redman on that cut, the two How High MCs also gave light to Wu-Tang Clan’s Masta Killa single “Therapy.” In addition to those two spots, M-E-T-H-O-D also penned a Ghost Rider episode.

Along with Ghostface Killah, Method Man also appeared on Snowgoons’ Goon Bap album. The German production trio of Sicknature, J.S. Kuster, and DJ Illegal has worked with a lot of ’90s MCs. They’ve done full albums with ONYX and M.O.P., in addition to projects with Parrish Smith. With PMD, the ‘Goons enlisted Sean Strange to share the mic duties. Sean is also involved, alongside “Iron Lung” on “I Reminisce.” Intell kicks things off with an impressive introductory verse, before Mef’ and Sean have some amazing interplay. For Heads who seek that gutter side of the Wu-Tang MC, look no further. The #1 charting platinum star travels back to a place of pain that formed the lyrical legend.

J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League: We’re Working On Next Wu-Tang Clan Album

According to the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, the production team is set to work with Wu-Tang Clan in the near future.

The crew’s Twitter page announced the Clan is working on a new album and the project will feature beats from the Tampa-bred trio.

“Now that we did a classic (unreleased) for [Raekwon] we got the call, we are officially working on [Wu-Tang Clan] next album. Dreams come true,” tweeted the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League.

Erik “Rook” Ortiz, Kevin “Colione” Crowe, and Kenny “Barto” Bartolomei’s production discography includes tracks with Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Mary J. Blige, Fabolous, and many more.

There have been conflicting reports about the Wu’s future.

In June, Ghostface Killah revealed he is set to be in charge of the follow-up LP to 2014’s A Better Tomorrow and 2015’s Once Upon A Time In Shaolin.

Last month, Method Man expressed that another Wu-Tang project may not happen.

Premiere: Method Man Wrote a 'Ghost Rider' Christmas Comic For Marvel

While the intersection of hip-hop and comic books for many lovers of both scenes has been executed perfectly through Marvel's collection of Hip-Hop Variants, it's deeper than that. There's an influence that Marvel (and comic books in general) has had on the lyricists that we've loved for years. Remember when the Wu-Tang Clan decided to give themselves new aliases around the time Raekwon dropped the purple tape? Most of the members chose names that sound like lost Goodfellas characters, but two of the members went straight to Marvel: Ghostface Killah became Tony Starks (bka Iron Man, which ultimately earned him a cameo in the first Iron Man film), and Method Man became Johnny Blaze, who at the time was known in the Marvel universe as the Ghost Rider. How fitting is it that two decades later the comic book head (who also had a cameo in Netflix's Luke Cage) ends up penning his very own Ghost Rider story in Marvel's new Ghost Rider X-mas Special?!

U-God Releases Fiery New Track 'Venom,' Announces New Album: Exclusive

U-God has a lot to get off his chest. After reportedly suing his rap crew Wu-Tang Clan in a $2.5 million lawsuit for unpaid royalties in November, the MC decided to use the booth as his refuge and release his new record, "Venom."

Here, he puts on a lyrical showcase and lets his bars do the talking. "We goin' through hell, we tryna get it right," he says about his "brothers" at the the top of the track before spitting, "Bust through by any means/Squeeze on my enemies/Then escape to the Phillippines/Watch out for this guillotine."

According to a TMZ report, U-God claimed in the lawsuit that he had not received royalty payments for at least six years, including money owed from Wu-Tang merchandising and the release of their secret double album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin (Controversial pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli purchased the LP for $2 million).

"Venom" also serves as the title track off his fifth studio album set to drop next year. You can listen to the track below and purchase it on iTunes here.

WATCH: Marc Lamont Hill Compares Ben Carson to Wu-Tang Clan's "GHOSTFACE KILLAH"

Dr. Marc Lamont Hill used a unique Wu-Tang analogy to explain why Dr. Ben Carson as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is a terrible idea.

Dr. Hill was holding down his pundit duties on CNN Monday after Carson was nominated to become the next Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Of course, the Trump supporters joining him on the panel attempted to find reasons why putting Carson in this position, despite having absolutely no experience running a bureau, was a good idea.

“He’s a good leader” was among one of the main reasons why.

That’s when Dr. Hill went Hip-Hop on them to break it down.

“Leadership skills are not transferrable,” he said. “Ghostface Killah is the leader of Wu-Tang Clan, LeBron James is the leader of the Cleveland Cavaliers. That doesn’t mean that they should be the leader of Housing and Urban Development.”

The panel began to chuckle afterwards as Dr. Hill continued his spill highlighting that even Carson himself has said his inexperienced for the job.

Kudos to Dr. Hill for being aware of the current status of the Wu. While RZA has always been the leader and chief producer of the crew, he recently handed the reins over to Ghostface to executive produce the next Wu-Tang album.

Being "raised by Wu-Tang"

Sophia Chang is a longtime music business power player who has guided the careers of many of your favorite rappers and singers, including a healthy percentage of the Wu-Tang Clan. She started in the music business working for a Graceland-era Paul Simon, but quickly moved into top positions at labels like Atlantic and Jive.

But it was in artist management that she really found her stride. Sophia managed Q-Tip and A Tribe Called Quest, Blackalicious, Organized Noize, D’Angelo, and Raphael Saadiq. But the real heart of her career has been with the Wu-Tang Clan. She worked with RZA, GZA, and ODB, managed RZA’s label Razor Sharp Records, and even ran the USA Shaolin Temple.

Sophia’s fascinating new blog about her life and times is Raised By Wu-Tang.

Wu-Art Thursday #224 - Mysterious Land of Shaolin

PeachTao had the honor of illustrating this map of Staten Island, to accompany an in-dept interview with RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan, for the book "Nonstop Metropolis - a New York City Atlas", edited by Rebecca Solnit and Joshua Jelly-Schapiro , published by University of California Press. The map is also part of the "Nonstrop Metropolis : the Remix" exhibition, on view in Queens Museum since Apr 2016. It was also written in The Guardian, April 2016.

The illustrations were done as several different woodblock prints, then digitally combined together.

The map was done by cartographer Molly Roy. Designer : Lia Tjandra

The University of California Press also wrote a lovely report on the Book launch party at Queens Museum.
